Restoration Recognition and Awards
Having been nominated for an award last year for the restoration of an Aston Martin DBR4/250, we were surprised to be nominated yet again this year for our restoration of D-Type Jaguar XKD534.
Known as the "New Zealand Barn-Find Car", we restored it in record time (8 months), to compete at the 2004 Le Mans Classic, at which it came second in class, driven by Barrie Williams and John Harper. Its stable mate XKC008 driven by owner, David Wenman, and Julian Bronson, came fourth in class.
In accepting the best restoration of 2005 award, Beaufort Managing Director Mike Williams paid thanks to David Wenman for entrusting the company with the project, the Beaufort Team for their tireless work on the project (often 22 hour days), and the drivers who gave us the results we had at Classic Le Mans 2004.
In conclusion to the acceptance speech, it was pointed out that Beaufort is always keen to take on new projects.
