Classic lines of the Railton Fairmile Coupe
Restoring the ash frame for the coachwork, re-panelling in steel & aluminium & repainting in a subtle two-tone Blue colour scheme, carefully chosen by our client began to bring the old girl back to life.
The running chassis was taken down to the last nut & bolt, everything being blast cleaned & repainted with all of the running gear rebuilt (Axles, suspension, steering, springs & their gaiters, wheels, engine, gearbox & brakes).
The car was completely rewired & its electrical services restored, all of the dash instruments restored, along with all of the dash mounted controls. All of the brightwork was re-plated.
Again, our client having an incisive eye for detail, set out how he wished the interior of the car to be - The dashboard & all of the wood cappings were restored, re-veneered & polished, all of the seating was renewed using finest Scottish leather, flooring in Wilton carpet. The hood & hood bag was re-made in Mohair hooding.
Our team of craftsmen brought the car back together, road-tested her, made adjustments & then delivered her to our delighted client.
Octane magazine have taken an interest in this project & early in 2007, an article featuring the car should be published.............In the meantime, here are a few photographs of the finished product.
